Saint Anselm vs. Holy Cross

I am stuck on my decision between saint a's and Holy Cross. I have come up with some pros and cons already, but they have similar weights. I can't outweigh one school over the other!
If anyone could comment on one or both of the schools it would be very helpful. I'm trying to put together a pro/con list.

One of my twins looked at St. Anselm and is at Holy Cross. Ratings aside, she thought she could get more out of Holy Cross and felt more comfortable there. St. Anselm is also known, as Holy Cross is, as a “no A” college without grade inflation and St A is more religious in some areas, although you can be very devout at HC.
She didn’t like how FA couldn’t be used for study abroad at all or other similar programs at St Anselm and that ended it before she had a pro/con list. She also thought it was too isolated and she wanted to know she could get off campus easily. Both had the small student to teacher ratio but diversity was better at HC although not greatly, enough for her to see a difference.
What do you want to study? Have you visited both?

St. Anselm has the better reputation and job placement statistics. Slightly more prestigious.

/patiently waiting for Par 72/1980CollegeGrad to say HC is the bestest ever.

^LOL. I guess they won’t say anything this time!

St. Anselm has great job/graduate school placement statistics.

US News National Liberal Arts Colleges rankings

HC 32
St A’s 122

Not even close

“St. Anselm has the better reputation and job placement statistics. Slightly more prestigious.”

???!!!

With this comment, the credibility of Informative plunges into “■■■■■” territory.

No disrespect to St. Anselm (it is a fine regional school) but Holy Cross is better (arguably, substantially better) in practically every measurable way. And that especially includes reputation and prestige.

Don’t need Par72 or 1980CollegeGrad to weigh in on this one.

Colleges are my life; I obsessed about them as a teenager and then spent my last 35 years employed by them. I know a lot about colleges. Holy Cross has a top reputation in my book. I’m vaguely aware of the name “St. Anselm” - I’ve read it before, and I have to presume that it’s Catholic, but I can’t tell you where it is or anything at all about it.

“St. Anselm has the better reputation”

I think he means St. Anselm the person, not the college…

Clearly indicates that postings by Informative are complete schmutz (–noun Slang . dirt; filth; garbage.)

Would definitely say Holy Cross!

thanks everyone! I guess the most important thing in a college for me is job placement, networking, and alumni connections. However, not to stereotype, but I am a white new-englander and the type of environment is very important. Worcester is more slummy but close to the city and Manchester, NH is a mini city and a little farther from the city(however a great designer outlet is coming soon to the area!)

can anyone give me suggestions now that i have explained my situation?

Assuming that you are a ■■■■■ since no one would choose Saint Anselm over Holy Cross (unless they were interested in the Saint Anselm nursing program which HC does not offer or if they were offered substantially better financial aid at Saint Anselm).

I’m sorry if you have the wrong idea required_details, but I am simply trying to find a good college match based on input from others. I can then reason out where I will go this fall.

—Not meeeee!—

My son attends St Anselms and it has been the best choice and experience. Very challenging academically- great place and I couldn’t be more happier for him.
Both places have great reputations and college is what you make it. worcester has more colleges around HC while St Anselms is all by itself. It’s a bubble to me but a wonderful bubble to grow and learn. There really are happy students there it’s such a welcoming place. My son is an atheist so it’s all fine for him.

This may be one of the most absurd threads I have seen on CC - There is not even the most remote comparison to be made - St. Anselm is a regional safety school with very high acceptance rates - Holy Cross is a top 40 school with incredible alumni and reputation.
