Hello all!
I applied to the Sakura Scholars Program, the Program that allows for students to major in Global International Relations and spend their Freshman and Senior year on AU’s campus, and their middle two years on Ritsumeikan University’s campus in Kyoto, Japan. I wanted to know if anyone else already got into the program. I applied for Regular Admission (Against my will haha), so I have to wait to see if i get into the school and program until April 1. I am really excited to see if I get in! Thanks!
Did you get in?
Hello, so I did get into American University :-), however I wasn’t admitted into the Sakura Scholars program. I won’t be able to do the 2 year study abroad program, but the positives are that I will have a lot more versatility in terms of my academic program at American, like being able to double major or minor in another program. Also, I will be able to do more long term internships.
Good to hear! My son also got into AU. He watched the Sakura Scholars webinar but he didn’t end up applying probably for the reasons you’re mentioning. We’ll be visiting American next week for the first time.
If my notes are correct, AU has “regular” (not part of Sakura Scholars program) study abroad with Ritsumeikan University and also has a partnership with Waseda University in Tokyo… so more choices. They seem like great schools as Ritsumeikan also has partnerships with USC, Georgetown and University of Washington, and Waseda has partnerships with GW, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, USC, UW and several notable liberal arts colleges.
