Anyone have any idea what the average starting salary for an engineering undergrad would be? What about a comp sci major?

i don't understand the question: you mean what would the starting salary of a current student be if he got a job? probably not that high, since he's still in college. if you're asking this question about SEAS graduates in general, then it is totaly impossible to answer. after graduation, engineers (and graduates in general) find all kinds of different jobs, all with completely different salaries. if you want to compare the average salary of a Columbia graduate versus that of an XYZ graduate, then you're going to be thoroughly dismayed, because this statistic will be very flawed by lots of different factors. it all depends on what kind of job you want, what kind of student you were in college (believe it or not, college GPA kind of matters), and what kinds of work experience you had before applying for that job. i know it might be frustrating that this doesn't answer your question, but that's simply how it is. but do know that putting Columbia on your resume can only help you (but it won't cover up the really bad parts).

Columbia grads who go into science/engineering industry type jobs make about 50-55K. I'm speaking very generally, please note.

it doesnt really matter where you get an undergrad degree from, it might make a 5k difference at most. in general tho, most engineers with a BS make about 45-60k right out of college. The low end tends to be more "common" eng's like mechanical and electrical and the higher end is chemical and nowadays CS (tho i've seen a lot of things saying the market is starting to get saturated with cs majors)
