I knew plenty of guys in all-male dorms and they did fine. You meet so many people in classes, and people know there are people in same-sex dorms, especially if there are a lot of them. It will be a good way to bond with guys, and girls tend to cruise the all-boy dorms because it's easier to find guys =P

I lived in an all-girls dorm last year and I had no trouble meeting other guys. At the same time, it was comforting knowing my bathroom wouldn't be over run with boys, and I think the boys in the other all-male halls enjoyed their privacy too.

I hated my all-girl dorm freshman year. I think it's different being with a bunch of dudes though. With girls, it's all drama and periods syncing up alot.

I was hoping for an all girls dorm, but I think the closest my school gets is by hallway.

I like having it by floor, because you can walk around in your pajamas on your floor but there are still boys around sometimes...

I liked the way they did it at my college, it was basically a random dispersal of genders. My entry (section of the floor) had 8 guys and 8 girls, and it was a very good arrangement.

Who cares about dorm and gender. You're here for your future, not to cloud it up by mingling with the opposite gender.

Oh God... I'm so worried I'll get stuck in an all-female dorm. Behind finding out who my roommate is and whether I can take Calc 2, that's my biggest concern. But hopefully, enough girls will want single-sex that I'll get my request and be in a co-ed one :D.

As several posters have mentioned, however, I'm sure it won't be the end of the world. There's so many opportunities to meet people that it shouldn't stop you from making friends with the opposite gender. And, as long as your college isn't particularly strict, I'm sure you're allowed to have girls "stay over" in your dorm if that was one of your concerns. Or at least, I know at my college even if you're in the all-girls dorm, guys are still allowed to sleep over...
