Surprised by the deferral. Surprised by reading about many deferrals not only at Santa Clara but other schools as well.

What is the rate of acceptance for students deferred at SCU?

Accepted earlier today.

SAT: 2200
GPA 4.0 UW
Computer Science.

Santa Clara isn’t one of my top choices but I’m excited to visit the campus (I’ve heard REALLY good things).
Has anyone got any merit scholarships yet?

Deferred.

Political science major.

I’m kinda surprised. And sad. Santa Clara is my top choice. oh well. Hopefully I get in RD…

Echoing someone else, does anyone have stats on deferred students? I know they’ll be unreliable this year because of the addition of ED but they’ll still help a bit I think.

Just got financial award email.

Quick question -

Got awarded the following

For #1 & #2 especially (but even for #3 & #4) - how sure are they ? Or is it still based on some other documentation like FAFSA. I already filled out the CSS/Fin Aid Profile on Collegeboard.

Just trying to determine - how likely it will change by the time school starts in Fall 2014 and even for entire duration of college attendance ?

Accepted to the College of Arts and Sciences with a 1/2 tuition scholarship (Provost)!

As far as stats/resume goes… 4.0/4.15 GPA, 2390 SAT, 4 APs so far, rigorous course load (mostly honors), regional awards in speech, community service involvement.

I almost certainly won’t be attending as the scholarship still leaves my family ponying up at least $38/k a year… amazing how expensive room+board+1/2 tuition is. Thankfully I have already been accepted to Whitworth U, also with 1/2 tuition paid for :)

I’ve been granted financial aid (in the form of grant about ~30k) but no word on any merit scholarships. Are those to be announced later? Or in the mail?

My merit scholarship was included in the financial aid letter (online).

I was accepted as well!!

Accepted 3.83 UW gpa 1810 sat and lots of extra curriculars into the Business

hesalive - Santa Clara uses the info you gave on the CSS to figure out if you will be eligible for Pell and Cal Grant. It should be pretty accurate unless your actual income and assets change before you file FAFSA. You still need to file FAFSA and make sure your GPA is submitted for Cal Grant. The same holds true for subsequent years - if your income and assets are about the same, you will likely be eligible for Cal Grant each year, but if they go up, you may not. You have to file FAFSA each year.

D Accepted and very excited, SCU high on the list. It will be a struggle only offered $4,500 grant the rest loans. Not sure the aid office understood that we will have 2 in expensive schools next year. Suggestions?

Accepted a few days ago!
32 ACT
8 APs
3.97 UW, 4.78 W
Good luck to everyone!

My son was accepted last week. He was offered the President’s scholarship which was wonderful news. We are going to visit sometime this winter, maybe even before the admitted student’s weekend.

Deferred rates would be cool…

My son was deferred from Early Admission to Regular Admission about 3 weeks ago. Disappointing. Like spike22, any insights would be helpful. Lots of leadership, extracurr’s, 3.6 unweighted, but taken very difficult courses (and 28 courses over his 4 years), highly regarded by everyone, Eagle, Black Belt. We are in the Bay Area.
