Hey Guys,

I know that I plan to work and live in California after college, no where else. Probably LA. I plan to transfer here in the fall of 2014. Anyways, how prestigious is Santa Clara University in general for business and computer science? How prestigious is it compared to schools like Villanova, Boston College, Northeastern, UCSD, Drexel, UCI, UCD and UCSB?

btw I currently attend Drexel University and I currently major in finance. I plan on adding a computer science major in the near future.

I would appreciate it if someone could respond.

for *s sake bump mother*ers

Since I’m not an adult working in these fields, I might not have the best answer, but I’ll give it my best shot. I’d have to say that it really matters where you are. Across the country as a whole, I’d say Boston College has a better reputation/is more well known. In California? There’s a very good chance Santa Clara has more alumni working at businesses in the area and would offer you more connections if you’re certain you want to stay in CA.

As far as computer science goes, SC students tend to have cool opportunities because of the whole Bay Area/technological hub/silicon valley situation they have.

Good luck!

Yes I am 100% certain that I want to stay in California. I will never ever return to the east coast.

It depends on what your goals are in doing finance and CS.

Do you want to be “a business guy” who knows a little about technology? I would say Santa Clara. Tight alumni network, well-respected for business locally.

Or do you want to do really technical, quant-y computational finance? I would say one of the UC’s in that case. Stronger STEM programs, more respect for your skills.

Also, SC is definitely less metal than the UC’s.

metal as in less prestigious?

No, as in \m/. Sorry, was just going by your screen name.

SC has tons of merit, you’re good
