@rhsstudent123 Skip the questions you don’t know at all, eliminate answer choices if you can, but don’t waste too much time looking at one question. Make sure you try all the questions.
I got 800 on the Biology M test this June so I think this could help. Best of luck.
im taking sat subject test biology this upcoming saturday and i was wondering how hard the actual test is. is it really hard or do you think i am prepared? ive been using barrons and its helpful and kaplan is way too hard. I am aiming for above a 750 but I don’t really know how hard it is. How do the barrons practice tests stack up to the actual test?
@ilovedoggies123 For me, using Barron’s as a holy book really helped. On the practice tests I scored a 760 and 780 on Biology E, but on test day I scored a 780 on Biology M. Hope this helps!
@onlyworthypotato thanks a lot! It did help. I’m just worried though because I really don’t know how difficult the tes t will be. For instance, would there be a question like what system is responsible for secretion of substances? anything that level of easy. I received a 740 on barron’s tests and average around 720 on my practice tests. will i be able to get above a 750?
@ilovedoggies123 I honestly can’t tell you anything with 100% certainty because after all I took one test. I never experienced the range of questions the College Board has to offer so I really can’t tell you if questions like that will be on there. What I can tell you is don’t just straight up memorize everything, know it. As in know everything just in case, but know the surrounding concepts to each thing and how they might be applied in a question. There are a lot of questions on the test where you’ll know the information but they’ll give you a situational question and the information won’t prove necessary, rather the whole concept and some common sense’ll get you through it. If you’re getting 740s on Barron’s don’t just bank on scoring higher. Actually take the time to look at my previous advice to some other people and see to it that it gets done because honestly, you’ve got nothing to lose by trying at this point. Good luck man!!!
@onlyworthypotato thanks! so it’s more application than rather straight up questions? I’ll be sure to read everything for understanding. Do you think if I bought the sat bio subject test book with the bio tests from previous years it will help me get a feel for the kinds of questions and formatting that will be on there?
To get perfect score on both tests (which is a big goal), you pretty much need to know all the material (I know that goes without saying, but still) and you need to know the format of the test. They try to ask questions from random areas; for example, they will ask one question about respiration and then three about evolution. Don’t get thrown by the sudden change. Good luck!
Heyy i’m taking tmrws so i was just wondering how you guys did and if you took the barrons practice tests were your scores close to what you actually got?
Okay, sure; you have heard negative things. Choose what review book you think is best and use that, because that is the only thing that matters. Besides, they all cover the same material, so it doesn’t make a huge difference picking Barron’s over Kaplan.
I heard negative things about Barron’s so I picked Kaplan and got an 800. However, what really mattered IMO is the hours of study I put in to get my score, not the book.
