Hi, I have a few test questions. Right now, my SAT score is 1380, 680 CR, 700 math and my ACT is 32 Composite, 31 Eng, 35 Math, 31 Read, 31 science, 8 essay. My SAT II's are 700 U.S 780 math ii and 710 Physics.

I'm applying Early Decision to the Cornell College of Engineering

I took the ACT on september 10 and i am very confident that i got at least a 34 perhaps even a 36, from my experience in the test and from seeing the test discussion on this site. Unfortunately, even if i score that high, the scores come out on september 26, which is past the deadline for the october SAT. I've already registered for the October SAT and one of my questions is

Is it worth retaking the SAT despite say a 34 ACT? Would the 1380 CR M still hurt me if i got a 34 composite including a 36 math?

Now, i'm happy about my SAT II Math IIc score, i think that is definitely good enough for Cornell. I'm a bit worried about my physics and U.S Score though. They're both good scores but would my chances improve a lot more if i say got a 770+ on Physics and U.S? That being said, my second question is

Should I sign up for the November SAT for U.S and Physics? Is it worth trying to improve the 700 U.S and 710 Physics?

The cornell admissions office stated that it will accept November SAT scores for Early Decision Applicants.

Don’t fret over the SAT II’s they are miniscual part of admission. You’d have to get over a 1510 on the SAT for it to be better than a 34 on the ACT. If you get a 34, the 1380 won’t hurt you.

Take the SAT again, since you don’t have the 34 yet. If your ACT score comes in at 34, you don’t have to worry about it. Your SAT 2s are fine - I wouldn’t worry about them.

My son had a 690 in CR and a 710 in math last year with a 730 on the SAT 2. I think his essay score was also 8 - maybe 9. I don’t know, he’s not a writer. Like you, he had a 5 on physics B and a 5 on BC calculus. His grades were strong and his classes choices were very strong - he got into engineering ED.

I don’t think you will have any trouble - just be sure you write a solid essay explaining why Cornell is your school of choice. Good luck!

If I remember my regressions correctly, I think AP scores correlate best with college performance, followed by SATs. ACT scores showed significantly lower correlation with college performance. Although as far as I can tell, Cornell weights SATs and ACTs the same.
