I'm an aspiring lawyer a few years out from actually having to take the LSAT, and purely out of curiosity I am wondering: is there's any correlation between the SAT or specific sections of it and the LSAT, percentile-wise? I'm looking for personal experience (personal SAT scores vs. LSAT scores) or thoughts or anything anyone want to contribute. Sorry if this is a stupid question (which is definitely a possibility, as I've never taken a practice LSAT to gauge it's similarity to the SAT).

there is a rough correlation but no exact science. the most directly applicable section is reading comprehension; if you scored well on the SAT for that section it is a good indicator. strength in the math section would indicate good performance in logic games. i don’t think there is a good indicator for the logical reasoning sections.

There is certainly a statistically significant positive correlation. I assume that the CR section correlates best. Be careful about doing direct percentile conversions, however, as the LSAT test-taking group is more self-selecting.

To date, I have personally not seen any valid studies comparing scores on the two tests. There has often been mentioned the belief that there might be some correlation. Nevertheless, the tests are not related and are created by different companies (i.e., “SAT” and “LSAT” have similarity in name only). Moreover, since testing is ultimately an individual thing when it comes to the score that counts, it is generally pointless to try to look for comfort in how you might do on a future LSAT test based on what you have done on an SAT test.

This shows a correlation between SAT and LSAT but the sample is very small.
