SAT/AP Prep Book Help

I am going to take the SAT II Math Level 2 and Chemistry (I'm a junior currently) in June. I am taking PreCalc Honors and AP Chem. Which SAT Math Level 2 and Chemistry books should I get: Princeton Review, Barrons or Kaplan? As for the AP Chem test, I already bought the Kaplan book. However, I just saw a lot of bad reviews. Should I return the Kaplan and get another?

Additional Info: I am interested in the BS/MD program at the University of Cincinnati and the HPME at Northwestern University. They require these test scores and I'm assuming they want them to be 800s.

Also: I am currently in Spanish 4 Honors and I won't be taking AP Spanish next year. However, I have heard that taking the AP Spanish test anyway is a good idea. Is this true? If so, why?

I would recommend getting something with a lot of practice tests in it, because practice tests are really helpful and surprisingly hard to find on the Internet (depending on the test…I think I found some for AP Chem last year).

@halcyonheather Have you had any experience with the Barrons, PR, or Kaplan? Some say Kaplan’s doesn’t have relevant information while some say they do while some say the PR is too brief but some say it’s perfect.

If you haven’t touched the Kaplan book you could return it, but it doesn’t hurt to have extra practice. I can speak for AP Chem since I’m taking the class now. I have the 2014 Princeton Review book for AP Chem. I’ve found in reviewing for tests coming up in class that it’s pretty basic with the review section (not a lot of detail, just the concepts) but the test questions in the chapter reviews and the practice tests are really helpful. Then again, my chem teacher goes into more detail than the AP exam, so that basic review might be enough. My chem teacher is also using the book for after school review sessions.

For the SAT Math II, I don’t think it really matters what book you get, as long as it has a lot of practice tests in it, as halcyonheather said. I used my cousin’s Sparknotes Math II book from about 8 years ago and it was still really helpful, despite my later discovery that it doesn’t have standard deviation, which was the topic of two questions on the Math II exam I took last May (gah-still annoyed with that). But it had everything else and I still got a 740.

You might be hearing that about the AP Spanish exam because they just changed the format of the language exams so that they’re easier for non-native speakers. Ask the AP Spanish teacher in your school about it, though.

Chem–barrons is best i’ve heard
Math 2 I have taken–I like barrons, sparknotes(free online), and most importantly the CB guide. 15 realistic tests, PR, and chungs can also be helpful.
