SAT Chemistry Discussion October 2014

plant fertilizer is the compound that contains K, N or P elements. What is the second question?

Do you happen to remember the actual formula for that compound? And the second one was a T/F/CE question, I think with a big picture of the eudiometer

Also, I remember there was one compound with Carbon in it. Do you remember if that was an answer to any of them?

Sorry, I do not remember. It was not Al2O3, SiO2 or CF2Cl2

That’s fine. Also, do I remember correctly that there a question about ozone O3 in the stratosphere? What do you think if one were sure that one missed one question, and guessing if one got a second wrong, but sure on all the rest? What’s the curve like?

So you skipped one and did one wrong? If you did the rest correct, you are certain to get an 800

Well that’s a big if. I was pretty sure on all the rest, but one can always make those stupid mistakes… I guess we’re all worried about that. Also…I looked up cf2cl2 and it said it destroyed ozone. Was that an answer to the one that had to do with ozone? If not, I think I’m really psyching myself out.

That is the answer. The other options have nothing to do with ozone.

wasn’t there actually an answer that had ozone O3? Do I not remember correctly… And that still no consensus on the gas/tube/true false question?

If you can tell one statement of that gas question, I can possibly recall that.

The statement was: the measurement should be made when the volume inside the tube is equal to the water outside. The explanation was: because the pressures are equal then. And let me get this straight: how exactly was the question on ozone worded?

Did not the first statement ask pressure? I think the first statement was false (If the statement was the measurement has to be made…) because you can use PV=PV to solve the volume and you can also calculate the difference between the atmospheric pressure and water pressure to get the pressure of the gas. If the question used “should”, I am not sure about it.

So did you put F/T? And then do you remember the wording of the ozone question? To summarize, we’ve discussed three questions: one about plant fertilizer, one about ozone, and one with the eudiometer. Any comments on them/given answers?

Yes, but I do not remember the wording of the ozone question.

But you do remember that you put cf2cl2 as your answer?

Oh, that answer should be TTCE, I searched the usage of eudiometer and found that it requires an equilibrium of the pressure inside the tube with atmospheric pressure…The answer I put for ozone question was cf2cl2.

Huh, ok. I have no idea what I could have done with that ozone problem… I can’t remember the wording of it – for some reason I just remember seeing O3 as an answer and marking it. Thanks so much HughHuang! Anyone else remember its wording?

You’re welcome  By the way, I think the one had O3 was Al2O3.

Gosh, i must have been hallucinating… No O3… I swear I didn’t put AlO3 though. I think we can all agree standardized testing does weird things to teenagers

But really, does anyone remember that question and how it was worded? I’m curious.
