SAT CR Jan 2008

Thanks, babe (Princeton0845).

It is, WITHOUT a doubt, UNDERSTABLE! The author was showing that the "scholars" HAD a reason to be angry. Newman (or whoever the guy was that was translating) had "incorrect" translations, so the scholars did indeed have a point. The fact that he made different translations doesn't make the scholars' anger an INEVABILITY. It simply goes to show that though ludicrous, the scholars did have a point. There is truly no debate.

Dickens Passage.. I put, for the first answer, somethig to the effect of " her writings were the first lash against the British system" and the second answer was that "Dickens attack on England were even more bold than that other lady" lol. I think I am right.

rosh, you are correct. on all of your answers.

I am hungry.. hmm.. I need to know which of my CR passage was experimental.. but I cant remember which I had..

I think I put "bold" too. And I think I put "understandable" too. These questions are so subjective...

So far, I think I have -3 Math, -4 maybe 5 CR and -1 Writing. We'll see in 3 weeks.

Yeah...Dickens was more bold since in the passage it said although her criticisms would seem trivial (or around the lines of it-I cant remember the phrasing exactly) she was the first of her time to rebel against society.

Edit: Thanks, skier09. Yeah...so timorous means timid, which shows that even though, when compared to those of Dickens, her criticisms seem weak, they set an example for later social critics (who were bolder because of her).

I think the phrasing was that she would have seemed more timorous compared to Dickens.

So, does anyone want to explain the "revere the author" question. I asked before and could not find the explanation...sorry to bother people though.

Also jtop has been asking about the halt/cease question, and I don't remember it to answer him, but I'm sure he would appreciate it if someone does.
