This past month I took the SAT. I received a 1600 on the multiple choice section, but only a 5/4/6 on the essay, which was very surprising because I’m a pretty good writer and thought - and still think - I did well on it. Anyways, I have two questions:

  1. Given that I’m looking at the Iveys, how big of an issue is my current score?
  2. Would there be any disadvantage (other than being bored to death) in taking the SAT again, not bubbling in anything for the multiple choice, and then doing the essay? Since colleges superscore, they wouldn’t see my MC, right?

For the super scoring thing it really depends on the college , but i don’t think it would be really worth to take another SAT and not bubble in anything. Congrats on the 1600!!!

I’m not sure that any colleges even require the essay anymore. Look into the specific schools you’re interested in

Essays are somewhat important, as admission officers will look at them and compare them with the quality of your college essays that you submit. However, your score should be fine. Hope this helps @tb12gopats
