SAT Grammar. Singular vs Plural. Navajo are???

I am on the second edition blue book pg 803 question 9. The correct answer (which I was able to get because it was sentence improvement, not error identification) was "the Navajo...speak an Appachean language". I was able to get it through POE but the question is what other similar words would be plural?

I am aware there can be all are but I fail to recognize constructions such as " the America are" or "the Europe are". Of course, I am aware of certain similar examples including " the Hindu are" or "the Mayan are". nonetheless, I cannot say that I know all of them. If anyone has any tips or ideas, please do help! Thanks!
