Hi, so today I took the SAT subject test for Math 2 and U.S. History, but I think that I did really poorly on the U.S. History test. I did not prepare for it because I was so focused on math and my finals. I don’t know if I should cancel my scores or not. If I receive a really low score, will this effect my college admission chances for U.Cs or other colleges? Please help, I’m feeling very stressed over this situation. I will not have another chance to take the subject tests because I’m currently a junior. Thanks in advance!!!
Not many schools actually require SAT2s. If you do badly, just don’t send it. I don’t think you have to worry about it.
i heard that UCs see all SAT scores though. I don’t have a choice to send the scores, they just see everything
UCs do not require subject tests. Moreover, though UCs require all SATs if you send an SAT, you can withhold SAT subject tests when sending scores and send whatever subject tests you want to send. They do not see them unless you send them. As to colleges that actually have a rule requiring all SAT or or other scores, here is my latest list:
Georgetown requires all SAT, SAT subject test, and ACT scores.
Duke requires either all ACTs or, alternatively, all SATs and subject tests; if you submit any SAT or any subject test scores, you must submit both all SATs and all subject tests.
Stanford, Penn and Barnard require both all SATs and all ACTs, but you can send whatever subject test scores you want to send.
Yale requires either all SATs or all ACTs (if you decide to send both you must send all of both), but you can send whatever subject test scores you want to send.
Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, and Harvey Mudd require either all SATs or all ACTs (and all of both if you decide to send both), plus all subject tests
UCs, Rice, and Tufts require all SATs if you send any SATs but you can send the ACTs or subject tests you want to send.
Syracuse requires all SAT scores if you send any SAT, but you can send whatever ACTs you want to send (it does not require or consider subject tests).
Thank you so much for your insight!!
