In Barron's for the SAT II physics exam is it more important to know formulas and how to manipulate them than it is to know specific details about certain topics?

Formulae questions are there on the real so you have to memorize those. Also questions testing qualitative concepts are there as well. If you have time don’t depend only on Barron’s. Use PR review alongside but neither of therm is that great in prediction of the actual test.

know formulas
if that’s all you do just memorize all the formulas

though tbh barron’s wasn’t very good prep imo
i read through most of it but only got a 730 (though i do IB so a good portion of the content was unfamiliar)
when i got to the real test it was completely different and i was kind of just guessing around… lol

Barron’s was a lot harder than the actual test. That being said, I got 790 using just barrons

You really need to know the formulas AND how to manipulate them. It is really important, from what my D’s friends and the books say, to memorize a number of them and then write them down in your test booklet to refer to. Hard work! Also, check out Erikthered.com for free and very useful formula and reference lists for Physics. I too have heard that if you can master Barron’s, you will probably get a very good score.
