What is the recommended prepbook for SAT II World History.I have searched on amazon.com and found these two:
1. Barron's SAT Subject Test World History

My son studied the Barron's SAT World History book which you have listed first. He thought it was great. He got an 800. To put his experience in perspective, he had a year-long world history course his sophomore year and took the test in June of his junior year. He also likes history related books and computer games and said he got some questions right because of what he had learned from those. He thinks if you know the Barron's SAT book material you will do well on the test.

i say barron's world history sat ii is very good - I was very disappointed because I used kaplan's, went into the test and knew NOTHING lol (I still got a 780 but omfg...)

then my friend, who is a year younger than me and is going to take world history in december, asked me to look at his barron's book...omfg EVERY question's answer I didn't know was in that book...

of course, it's also a LOT of info, so you need to dedicate yourself to actually reading the book in depth if you're going to use it...if you only have limited time, PR might be better for you.

I'm taking AP World right now, but I self-studied the SAT II for WORLD, and I used the Barron's SAT II book, which is great. The Barron's AP WORLD is soooo vague, they sum up entire chapters from the Barron's SAT II book in one paragraph. I say get both. The SAT II book from Barron's is great, though. But the AP Book can go along with it to help you summarize/understand.

Oh, not to mention.. for my AP world homework, I use my Barron's SAT II book when we outline chapters from our text and always get 100s lol. seriously, the sat ii book helps me more in that class than the AP one!

But I'm taking AP European History right now. Is that different from World History? Just wondering because my school doesn't offer AP World History but it offers just about every other AP class (especially for the core subjects)..so I thought that was weird.

And if so, I really want to get this Barrons book because our textbook isnt very good..

well, european history only focuses on europe, hence its name...whereas SAT World History covers a relatively large expanse, from the beginning of civilization through the cold war. it covers a lot of different cultures as well, including mesoamerican, african, east and south asian...

the good news is that a good deal of the test, i'd say 35% or more, focuses on europe, so you have a head start right there. if you get a prep book and focus on the non-european material, you should be golden :)

fyi, i studied using an older version of the barron's book and got a 790, so i vouch for it. interestingly enough, i also play[ed] history-oriented video games like civilization and age of empires :)

PBABY, he took an honors level world history class which is the highest level offered by our school. The teacher has a well-deserved reputation for being tough, so the kids come out of there having learned the subject manner well.

broetchen, I know he loved Rome: Total War and think I remember him mentioning that as one that had helped him with some answers. I'll try to remember to ask him the next time he calls.
