SAT II's

Didn't do incredibly great on my SAT II's
Lit - 730
USH - 690

My ACT score as of right now is a 30 but I am planning to pull it up to a 32 (which translates to about a 1420 I believe)

On AP tests, APUSH - 5 and Eng. Lang. and Comp. - 4

I have 7 AP classes, a 4.0 unwieghted, 4.2 weighted and am rank 1 in my class of 247. I am from Eastern KY.

With all this in mind, are the SAT II results balanced out by stuff like the 5 on APUSH? If I want to throw in EC's, suffice it to say I am heavily involved and president/captain of around 5 activities with mostly statewide rankings. I placed 17th in the nation in debate. I have a lot of academic honors as well, though nothing to the level of national merit finalist.

Do I have a shot at the ivies? I know the SAT IIs are low. I can retake the USH in Dec., but I would prefer not to if the AP carries any weight, especially since subject tests are not required when submitting the ACT.

Opinions anyone? Thanks. I appreciate any input.

Will someone please comment! I'm really worried :{

i'm no expert about ivies, but i say you have a very high chance of getting into a great college. did u take the SAT? if not, then you must do so. i'm sure you have absolutely NO chance with ivies without an SAT score. i guess you your SAT IIs could be better, but believe me, that's not the end of the world. i would suggest a math or science SAT II, though, to balance out your preoccupation with english and history. in any case, ivies usually require 3 sat IIs. what were your other A.P. grades? think about what you're really into to, though, and look for colleges from there. trust me, you have an excellent chance of getting into a wonderful college you will really love, even if it's not an ivy. good luck!

When I read most of the requirements it said that the ACT could be substituted for the SAT. Is this not true? The nearest SAT test site to me is a little over an hour and a half away and I've focused on ACT a lot more, especially since that's what our state places the most emphasis on. I've taken the SAT once but my scores were really low because I took it as a sophomore and scored much better on the ACT when I took it.

i live in nyc and ppl don't talk about anything except the SAT. i guess in different parts of American it's different, so you should probably go for it and do the best possible on the ACT. sorry, but i'm not really sure about whether ivies treat the SATs and ACTs as equals. sorry.

It's cool. Thank you so much for your advice! I am feeling pretty good right now :)
