I have given SAT twice now and scored identical both the times ie 1400 ( EBRW 640 and M 760). My first attempt was in October '18 and the second was in December '18. I had prepared a lot for the December one -Uworld (1-month pack), all the official college board mocks, khan academy, Erica Meltzer for English. I did improve on my reading score from 29 to 31 but had no overall improvement (although the paper went really good).
Considering I have good ECs and GPA, and I am aiming for Ivy League colleges, what should I do next to ensure a good score in standardizing tests? Should I give the SAT for the 3rd time in MAY 2019? Or should I take the ACT? I’m still in my junior high school year. Please suggest the best way forward.
At least some of the Ivys will require all scores of either the SAT or ACT so before you take that third SAT, think carefully about whether the potential upside is worth the risk of submitting multiple tests. You will already be providing a good amount of evidence that you are a 1400 SAT tester.
You might instead consider taking a couple of subject tests to showcase your skills. Perhaps Math 2 and a Science? Or, if you think you’ll do well, a History or Lit. test since a great score there can offset your sub-700 EBRW. Warning: Lit can be tricky.
Update: You can also try the ACT as well. For the large majority of schools requiring “all tests” the tester can choose which ACT vs. SAT. Georgetown requires everything - all SAT, all ACT, all subject tests.
