SAT Math Level 1

i actually believe the area of the semicircle was 17/2pi- i was sure of it on the test day...dont really remember the problem right now...hope im not wrong

can anyone restate question number 49?
it was the one with like some function that equals one

i put the answer as 7, but others said 2

anyone confirm right answer?

im 99.99999% sure 49 was 7. Check the explanation a few posts previous to this.

i think what people did who got 2 as the answer just set what the final equation was (4x-7) equal to 1, but the problem said f(2x+3)=4x-7, making x when f(x)=1 to be 7.

khrisha... you sure? i did the problem like 3 times on test day and kept geting 17/4pi... maybe you found the area of the whole circle as 17/2pi and forgot to divide by 2 for the semicircle? i dont know, i just thought i was pretty confident with 17/4... can anyone else confirm?

yep. igot 17pi / 4

I'm pretty sure the question was this (for the 17pi/4)

A semi-circle w/ unknown diameter. There were 2 lines reaching to a point on the left, of length 3 and 5. You use pythagorean; diameter = sqr34. Do the math from there--divide by two for radius, square and *pi, divide by two because it's a semi.

vcv, whatd you get for 49?

there are a lot of different answers...

I didn't do 49. The last 3 I didn't wanna risk the time/chance of getting wrong and just skipped to go back and do others.

9 blank none wrong.. where does that leave me.. any chance of getting a 700?.. ugh why did i leave so many.. ::sigh::

can anyone post up other difficult problems he/she encountered?
i seem to have forgotten most of the problems for some reason..

and also, assuming for 49, 7 is the correct answer, i think i only got 1 wrong
should i cancel?
i heard that if you dont get an 800, youre already in the low 90% percentile

I think thats b****x cuz my fren got a 750 and was 95% percntile.

- i forgot to divide by 2 at the end for the semi-!!!!
that makes 2 wrong (the subcommittee problem) and 1 skipped

yes that was it. 17/4pi

are you guys sure that 7 is the right answer for 49??? i hope so!

the question was:

f(2x+3) = 4x-7, what t makes f(t) = 1?

how did you get that?

ive been debating about question 49 between answers 2 and 7
im almost 90% sure its 7...i kinda forgot how i did it though..lol

can someone please tell me exactly what the question was for 17pi/4?? really need to know!

callthecops-- I posted the question on page 3.

CALLTHECOPS:

NUMBER 49 (PUTTING IN CAPS B/C ITS BEEN POSTED TWICE ALREADY):

it said f(2x+3)=4x-7, by inspection one may figure out the original function to be f(x)=2x-13;
set this equal to 1 because they ask for value of x is f(t)=1
1=2x-13
2x=14
x=7

i mean what value of t**... argh stupid variables

sorry, how do you know that the original funtion is f(x)=2x-13? that's the step I don't understand
