SAT Math Prob

How would I solve this? Thank You!
XY
+YX
WZ5

In the correctly worked addition problem above, each letter represents a unique nonzero digit. What is one possible value of the number XY?

W = 1 because XY + YX is a 3-digit number and is no larger than 199.

Also X+Y = 5 or 15. But X+Y = 5 is impossible since the sum would be 55.

Here, you could try combinations of X and Y such that X+Y = 15, E.g. X = 7, Y = 8. 78+87 = 165, and nothing that Z=6 is different from 7 or 8, we have that XY = 78 is one possible value.

I had to really sit down and think about it, but this clarified it a bit more. Thank you! :slight_smile:
