****SAT MAY OR JUNE for Sophomore???*****

I am curious of how I will do so I want to take the SAT at the end of my sophomore year. Should I take the one on May or June, I will still have school in May, but June I will be on summer break. I got 166PSAT score as a sophomore. I've been studying, taking practice test, reviewing strategies, and some vocab. I hope I do better on the SAT, and especially on CR section, I'm not the best at reading comprehension so I struggle with what the "boring" passage is about. I am in Honors Alg II, Honors Chem, AP World History, & Regular English. Let me know on what I should do!!!! THANKS!

I would recommend taking it in June this year because the May SAT is right around AP week and you’ll want to be studying for those at that time! Once you get out of school you can concentrate on studying for the June SAT. Good luck!

Ok, June seems better to me too! Also, should I take the June one to see where I am and how I can improve after getting my scores?

Yes, that sounds like a good idea for a sophomore. I personally didn’t take the SAT until June of my junior year but I don’t see how it would hurt you at all!

Thank man!

Given that your PSAT score of 166 isn’t phenomenal, I would definitely hold off until junior year to take it. Naturally, you’ll get better at the test from what you learn in school. I don’t think it’s a good idea for underclassmen to take the SAT just to “see how they do” since it really is a waste of time (unless you’re capable of scoring very well, or willing to study like crazy). If you want to know how you will do, pick up the SAT practice booklet from your counselor’s office and take that.

^I agree that it is not necessary or even beneficial to take an SAT this spring. But if you are going to do it, I’d say take May so that at least you can send away for QAS.

I agree with cheerios…

I think you might want to take the SAT II for World History during the June test, considering that you are taking AP World. The curve for that test is ridiculously easy. I heard it was something like -12 could still get you a 800. I’m not sure how valid that statement is, but I did take it last year and it was incredibly easy. Besides, you won’t even have to study for it that much since you would have already studied for the AP exam.
