what is a better sat prep class, Princeton review or test masters? Also is the score guarantee for both of them on the actual sat?

I would strongly discourage any SAT Prep class unless you feel that you don’t have enough drive to do it alone. The courses are not only outrageously expensive but also are very impersonal and, i feel, fail to target YOUR specific weaknesses. Even if you feel u cant do it alone, I would suggest a good tutor over a course any day. But, It is actually pretty easy to study for and do well on the SAT on your own when you have a resource as great as college confidential. I would even go as far as saying that you can get a better score using cc than a prep class (based off of personal and friends’ experiences). See here for details on how: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/763933-everyone-read-before-posting-best-sat-prep-forum-faqs.html

But if you REALLY feel a class is necessary, I think the test masters would be better since their score gauranteees a 300 point improvement, which is 50 points higher than princeton review’s. also, the instructors for test masters all had to get in the 99th percentile on their own SAT in order to be instructors for test masters while princeton review instructors could have gotten 1900’s for all we know.

Good luck!

I would also strongly discourage SAT prep classes. This is because they literally teach straight from the $20 book that you can buy from Barnes and Nobles. If anything, I would suggest a private tutor - but only if you can afford one.

Otherwise, I actually believe that taking the time and effort to complete practice tests and look over review books on your own is the better option.

i studied from a book and got a 1660, and so i wanted to do a class, because it is hard to motivate. Has anyone done the testmasters course before?

Do you have the blue book? Honestly, even by taking a course, you will still need to push yourself. I have heard of parents who paid more than 5 thousand dollars on sat prep courses and tutors for their kids, but the kids couldn’t break 1800. There is no way around it. I know it is hard, but to do well on the SAT you need to learn to motivate yourself.

the testmasters course is 1000, i know it is a steep price, but i am trying to get into an out of state school. My parents have agreed to pay for it, so i was just wondering if test masters is the best course? Does anybody know anyone that did a testmasters course?
