<p>I studied for a long time, and I took one SAT test to see my ability, and i got 1550/2400.
I know all the SAT grammar rules, in fact when i get the question wrong, I know immediately on writing section of the test why the question is wrong. Same for math. but for reading, i barely know why the answers wrong, and its really hard to study alone on this, except for completion sentences.</p>
<p>So my question is: Do you think at this level, SAT prep programs will be useful?
I tried SAT prep course - GATE SAT and it was completely useless, because they won't review the test, and just move on by doing extra practice problems, instead of reviewing the wrong answers.</p>
<p>Anyway, IF you think SAT prep program will be useless for me, what prep books do u prefer?

<p>prep programs arent right for everyone. Sometimes it just a placebo effect and you think you’re learning more and much better than on your own, but in reality some people can do the same by themselves. </p>
<p>If you feel like you need classes and you can afford them, go ahead.</p>
<p>Many people try a course and then notice its the same thing as self-prep except another person is just teaching it, so they just do it themselves. </p>
<p>I think you should use the following books and see how you do after a week or so (its good you know your grammar rules cuz then the following book will be great for you!)</p>
<p>Barron’s 2400 (for CR+W) (and Math too if you want)
Gruber’s Math Workbook (just for math if you score 650 and below, get Chungs if you score 650 and above)</p>
<p>Barron’s is a tough book when it comes to Writing and Critical Reading, but the tougher it is the better it pays off if you devote yourself to learning from it.</p>
<p>Grubers shows all the different types of SAT math problems and goes over a ton of ways on how to do them. Very helpful. (same with Chungs, but its more advanced.)</p>
<p>All i want is 600 math, 600 reading, and 600 writing, that’s my goal.</p>
<p>Do you know some books that could bump my 500-580 math score to 600-650, 480-520 writing to 600-650 (I always know why its wrong, i just have trouble seeing it in one shot), and lastly 390-420 critical reading to 500-600 range. </p>
<p>Does the following score change your mind a bit on what books i should buy or use?
Since there’s so many books in the market, I have trouble seeing which one i should buy.
I have the Gruber’s book (full) but It’s too hard to self-study. I’m not sure if i have enough time (October test) to read that whole book. So far I finished reading Cracking the SAT, and Rocket Revolution (almost).</p>

(Just an additional info, but I know when i take the CollegeBoard test, why the answers are wrong, EXCEPT critical reading- passage questions, as I’m not a native English speaker, and I sometimes feel like the passage is easy, and yet i get all of them wrong)</p>
