Hello. I am an international student from Albania. I just finished my junior year in high school, and I decided to take the SAT in order to study abroad, maybe in USA. I started to work with SAT since the beginning of the preceding year. Firstly, I gave the exam on October and I took CR:480, Math:710 and writing:500. Then I entered a course (I worked with the Official SAT book) for SAT prep and in January, after giving it for the second time I took CR:570, Math:7770 and W:570. I was still not really ha[[y with my points so i bought the Kaplan official prep book, and another Kaplan's practice exams for SAT and started working with them. The last time I gave the SAT (which was on 2 June) I took these points: CR:500 M:700 and W:650. I totally didn't expect these points, because during my last prep i took in CR over 600. Anyways, now I am completely desperate because I don't have any other thing to practice to rise my scores. Please help me!!

Anyone can help??? :D

What’s your first language? Excuse my ignorance. I would really work on your english vocabulary and grammar. That will help you more than anything even if it doesn’t come from an SAT prep book. Try vocabulary workshop.

Firstly, thank you for replying to my post. I’m very grateful for that.
In your opinion what is the best way to boost my vocabulary and grammar? If it is possible can you give me the names of the books why could be efficient for my preparation?
Thanks again,
E.

You can try Sparknotes.com SAT Prep Section. They have a brief review of the Writing Section and a good word list. You can learn basic english grammar rules from there for the writing section. Another option is freerice.com. It’s a fun way of learning new words.

If you are looking for another review book, I would suggest buying Barrons or Princeton Review books. They are good materials for practice and for strategies. For full length practice tests you should rely on the Official Guide.

You can also log on to College Board.com and see their section on SAT prep. There is also an option to subscribe to a SAT Online Course (you have to pay through a credit card). I think if possible, you should get that because it’s quite helpful as it comes straight from the makers of the test. You also get 10 new practice tests with this course so that’s a great bonus. If you can’t access that, here is a link for released Tests : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/766525-official-sat-practice-booklets-past-current.html

As mentioned by the above poster, you should first work on improving your basic english (vocabulary, grammar, etc.) and then go through SAT guide books. Maybe take a look at old english grammar books from school? I hope my post was helpful. If you need more help, feel free to ask. :)

I think you should first spend at least a month just buying books and reading a lot. It seems like you are not the most familiar with using English, even just by reading your post. Reading will help you get use to the language and make you read faster which is important on the SAT. Sparknotes is good to review for both the books you read and for learning the grammar rules and stuff for the SAT.

Thank you both of you guys
I really appreciate it. I have already bought a subscription of New York times, and I will start reading it immediately. Thanks again :D
