I got a 225 on my PSAT last october, which is more than enough for NM semi-finalist in my state, but everywhere I read says that your SAT scores need to confirm your PSAT scores. I recently got my SAT results back and got a 2050 on them. Is that good enough to 'confirm' my 225 from the PSAT or should I retake the SAT to raise it to the same level?

Yes, that is high enough. The rule of thumb seems to be 2000, but even those with 1950 seem to make it. Make sure you keep your GPA strong and behave at school. Also, fill out the paperwork correctly when you get it in Sept.

However, for college entrance, you might want to take the SAT again. Also take the ACT.

With a 225 PSAT, I would imagine that you should be able to get at least a 2150.

Where will you be applying to college?

mom2collegekids is right on all counts.

But I would take it again.

You need to consider yourself a finalist and start looking at the schools on this list and see if you are interested in any and start planning to visit those that you are.

I’m planning to take it again anyways, since I did really well on some sections are really poorly on others so the combination should be a good boost regardless. Thanks for assuring me though that if all goes bad my score is already good enough for NMS.

Don’t forget to send your SAT scores (your best sitting) to NMCorp at some point (by December).

Can you send the combination of all your best sections from different sittings to NMS, or does it have to be just a single sitting?

I don’t think that NMCorp uses a superscore for NMF consideration. Are you afraid that you won’t have at least 1950 from one sitting between now and December? (you have until Dec to get at least a 1950)

He already got 2050 re: post #1

LOL…for some reason I was thinking post #6 was from a different person.

I wonder now why he asked the second question.

Can you send the combination of all your best sections from different sittings to NMS, or does it have to be just a single sitting?

You don’t personally send your scores to NMCorp (so there’s no way to send a combo of sections from different sittings). You send your scores the same way that you send scores to colleges…by going to collegeboard’s website and putting in NMCorp’s number. You can also put in NMCorp’s number as one of your 4 free choices when taking the SAT.

Do you happen to know what the code for NMCorp is?

The code can be found on Collegeboard - the same way you find college codes.
