Some college’s put more weight on your transcript as it’s a 3-year window into your potential as a scholar, while the SAT is a 3-hour window into the same potential. For those schools, your “average” grades might be your downfall no matter what your SAT score. But, I would think that if your Math average on your transcript is above the 25th percentile equivalent, your Math SAT with a below 25% percentile score shouldn’t matter that much.

Some college’s put equal weight on your transcript and SAT scores and sometimes more weight on your SAT scores. For those schools, as your SAT matters more, your below 25% might be questioned. In which case, they would refer back to your transcript to see if your math grades are in sync with your SAT score and go from there.

Usually, I will just focus on the lowest percentile, as that is from the admission stat already considered other factors. Nevertheless, it only tells you the distribution of admitted students, not the admission rate. There may be 25% admitted students with that stat or below, but the admission rate can be very low depending on the school. It would be more important to specific which “particular college” you are referring to.
