SAT Score Receipt vs. Email Confirmation

Hello!

I was sending my SAT score to two colleges via the College Board and ran into an issue.

I took the SAT twice. The first test I took was without the essay. I scored well on that test whereas my second one was taken with the essay. On the second test, I scored a bit lower than on my first and did not receive the essay score I would like at all so I decided to send my first score w/out the essay.

When I was sending my scores on the College Board, I did so so that I would only send my first score without the essay. After my payment, I was given a receipt that replied I had paid for my first test score to be sent to two colleges. However, when I was sent the email confirmation, both tests were under the names of the colleges.

This is highly concerning for me as I don’t believe I did anything wrong. I am worried that both scores, including the essay, were sent to my colleges when I only picked one. I’m not sure if I am misinterpreting it, however, and would like to know what I should do.

Thanks!

CB defaults to sending all of your test scores (SAT and subject tests), so you have to uncheck the one(s) you don’t want to send (on the Select Scores screen).

I wouldn’t worry about it if you did send both, the school will use your highest test scores.

Also make sure the schools you apply to really do require you to send official scores from CB, many allow self-reporting of test scores and just need the official report upon matriculation.

Good luck.

Ah gotcha! Yes, I did uncheck the scores that I did not want to send, but it still appeared under the email confirmation (not on the receipt though).

In the case that they both did send, would the essay from the second test be considered as I did not take another essay (both schools that I sent it to were test-option due to COVID but also did not require the writing portion before the pandemic)

I wouldn’t worry about the essay score at all as both schools are TO and didn’t previously require the writing portion.

There’s a known problem with CB’s email confirmations showing that all tests were sent to all schools, even when you have selected specific tests. Several reports here, many on r/SAT.

Go back to you Score Sends page and it should show what was actually sent, which should be what you requested.
