What kind of SAT 1 and SAT 2 scores are obtained by people accepted into CMU? (considering that the person has a GPA of 3.6-3.8 , a few internships , volunteer work and the usual school ECs .)

Google “common data set Carnegie Mellon” and look at section C. Alternatively, look at results threads here:

<a href=“Carnegie Mellon University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/

Surely you can google that for yourself? But if not: http://www.cmu.edu/ira/CDS/pdf/cds_2013_14/c_firsttimefirstyearadmission.pdf

Sameer: Look at this link also which segments the various schools:

http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/undergraduate-admission-statistics

As you can see the scores range from very high in DC to Caltech like in SCS.

Good luck to you
