Are subject tests necessary for admission to UCSD or UCLA? I have done well on cooresponding AP classes (4 in Calculus and 100% average in all math classes, 3 in biology with an A in the class) but I can’t get to a 700 on Math level 2 or Biology (660 on both) I’m planning on being a neuroscience major. On the website it says it’s considered, but does anyone have experience on how important this would be for me to submit?
Since subject tests are not required by any of the UC’s and UCSD/UCLA does not have any recommended Subject tests for Neuroscience majors, then it should not impact your chances significantly. However, since both schools are competitive, I am sure many applicants will have Subject tests to help enhance your their application. If you are unhappy with your Subject test results, do not send them but self-report your AP test scores instead.
