Hi everyone! So I didn’t do to hot on my SAT ii (math 1-720, math 2-690) and am shooting for the Ivy League schools hopefully. Would you guys advise that I don’t send in my scores to the schools that say they are “recommended” or would that hurt me more than just submitting these poor scores?
Thanks!
Just realize that “recommended” in this case means if you are low income you get a pass because you can’t afford the tests.
Are you 100% sure of this? I haven’t been told of this before
I agree with @Erin’s Dad. Essentially, he’s saying that recommended means––to a large extent––required. If you don’t submit Subject tests, you need to be:
a) low-income; under-represented minority; and/or first-generation
b) have a very high GPA and SAT I/ACT to demonstrate you still can do the work
I do happen to be an URM and am very confident in the rest of my application, in this case do you think I’m better off not sending them?
My son was told by AdCom at NU - where SAT IIs are recommended, but not required - that SAT IIs were used to provide an opportunity for an applicant to make up for a low GPA or low AP score in a subject area. He didn’t need to do that so he took zero SAT IIs and was admitted ED.
