SAT Vocab Books, Reading Passage (Feelings) Help?

Hey everyone!

So I’ve been prepping for the upcoming SATs at the end of the year, so I have some months left before the actual tests.
My weakest section (like many if not most people’s) is Critical Reading.
I got my hands on the Direct Hits Core Vocabulary and memorized all the words. Do you think it would be wise to get the Direct Hits Toughest Words as well? What other ways did you guys prep for the sentence completion parts of the Critical Reading?

Also, I have some questions regarding the reading passages. One thing that is quite difficult for me is how the author is feeling… Like there are choices like “mild disapproval”, “considerable scepticism”, or “deep objection”.
What tips do you suggest would help me identify the author’s feelings during those reading passages?

Thanks,
sonnet18

Yes, it would be a good idea to get both direct hits and know them very well. That is what I’m using to prep for the sentence completion. Also, after every practice test, I plan to make a list of unfamiliar words to me, look up their definitions, and memorize them for the future.

To identify the author’s feelings, try and concentrate on the diction the author uses throughout the passage. Are they sarcastic? Also, what is their intended purpose? I know the choices can be daunting and tricky at times, so practice using practice tests and review the mistakes you’ve made!
