Can I compensate my low GPA by getting a high score in SAT and Great Great Great essay?

While Harvard doesn’t address this issue on their website, Yale does – and given that Harvard’s acceptance rate is a tad bit lower than Yale’s, I imagine they feel the same way.

Depends on how low it is I suppose. I know so many 4.0s and 2400 SAT’s that get rejected that it’s hard telling. But honestly, what would you think? A higher test score will obviously increase your chances, so try to improve that aspect of your application, and your GPA if you have sufficient time. Many applicants (like myself) have gotten in to schools like Yale with lower GPA’s and test scores, so there’s lots of other factors taken into account. For the record, I did get rejected to Harvard. There’s an element of randomness in the process that you will never be able to control. Don’t fret too much, and work on what you can :)
