Hey guys, for those who have helped me before, you probably know my situation. For those of you who don’t, here it is:
I’ve taken the SAT 3X, although the first was a stupid “practice” test I decided to do in 10th grade without any idea of the sat. I have a SS 1520, composite 1510.
SAT 2 I have 800 Math 2, 780 Chinese, and 700 Bio-e.
ACT I have a 33 ss.
Now, I retook my bio-subject hoping I would improve with more practice, however, with QB application and a school event until 11pm the prior night, I did not get much, of any, practice in at all: I got a 680 in November…
What I’m trying to decide right now, is whether I should try to take the SAT one more time, as I have more time to study and a reasonable chance of improving my score by about 30 points or so. Although this would be my 4th SAT reasoning retake, my first one was a 1250, and have been showing considerable growth each time. I have already scheduled a SAT test for December and am trying to decide whether I should switch to the Bio subject instead and aim for a 750+ (which might be doable with my 3 weeks of practice…). I have already signed up for another ACT (3rd attempt). It would be great if y’all could offer any insight. Thanks!
Stop the testing. IMO you’ve taken way too many already. Instead of stressing about squeaking out a few more points, focus on finding more match and safety schools.
@momofsenior1 My mom has been telling me that as well, however, I really want to cross that 1540 or 750 threshold.
As for safeties, I’ve already been accepted to my state flagship school, a few liberal arts colleges, and have a decent chance at Williams and Pomona (minority fly-in attendee)
Which test would you recommend, if you were to recommend one to take?
Listen to your mother but if you are spending your money on one more, I’d take the SAT. Your score there is already stronger than your ACT based on the '18 concordance tables.
But if you have your mind made up already to take a test, then I’d take the SAT again. In terms of testing, it’s more important to admissions than the subject tests. Also, a Math 2 800/Bio E 700 combo seems great to me.
FWIW, it’s entirely possible your SAT score will go down just like your 2nd Bio E test score. My kid took the August SAT and the math curve was brutal. So, you never know what kinda test you’re gonna get.
@momofsenior1 thank you for the advice! I have recently realized that I qualify for the SAT fee-waiver so in this case money, ironically, is not an issue.
To clarify, by the SAT you mean the SAT reasoning not subject right?
@sushiritto yeah I heard the SAT in August was brutal too… I have consistently gotten 2 problems wrong each time so I m aiming for a full score this time. That’s the goal at least…
