If "due to the fact" is in the question is it always wrong?

Can someone help me on mainly the second to last one?

and fourth one

You know you should really put what part of the sentence is being change in parenthesis or underlines.

What is the source of these questions?

For the fourth one, the choices that use “they” are incorrect, since the pronoun is ambiguous. Presumably it refers to archaeologists, but they are not mentioned in the sentence. So it’s either C or D. C, with its use of “and” is wrong, leaving D.

The second to last (Because the child …) seems to have a typo. Is there a comma after “singing”? Can you re-post the question in the correct SAT/ACT format.

Most likely C “once he started” is what’s wrong. If you drop this clause the sentence is grammatically correct, although it still doesn’t read all that well. The “Because” at the start of the sentence is okay, even though some people may think that a subordinate clause can’t start this way, and the verb tenses are correct – past perfect and past.

I have a hard time believing these are College Board questions. They seem more like questions from a poorly prepared study guide. There is more than one error in some of the questions. Consider #4. First error is S-V agreement…‘research requires’…not ‘require’. Error #2 is pronoun reference…‘they’ logically refers to archeologists, but the syntactical referent is ‘research’.

In the singing child question, the sentence needs two revisions. ‘Because’ is logically wrong. ‘Although’ suggests the proper logical relationship. Also the ‘once he started’ adverbial clause requires another comma.

I’m with fogcity. Did you make typos while preparing this post?

srry for the confusion I believe I made some typos
