<p>Idioms are very difficult to recognize because some of them are very common and you’ve definitely heard them, but then they’re are others that you would not expect at all. I dont think there is a definitive way to know them all unless you plan on memorizing a list, and a giant list, in fact.</p>
<p>here is a list of common ones i found as suggested by a friend of mine:</p>
