<p>Is SAT test that important? If you applied to a good college like UCLA, which student would the admissioner pick: a student with 2000 SAT score and 3.4 GPA, or a student with 1700 SAT and 5.0 GPA?</p>

<p>And SAT/ACT is very important.</p>
<p>The SAT is quite important because it is an easy way for colleges to compare students from a wide range of backgrounds and from across the country. However, college admission isn’t based solely on it. Sorry, I know that’s somewhat contradictory.</p>
<p>possibly neither of the above. and it is absolutely possible to be a 5.0 and get a 1700. being book smart doesn’t mean you know how to take standardized tests well. before i went back into admissions, i was a test coach. i had one girl who absolutely froze, no matter how well she knew how to take the sat, the act, etc. a standardized test just sent her reeling.</p>
