SAT

So, I’d like to say I’m a good student. I’m towards the top of my class, have really good grades, and I’ve got a couple passing AP scores. Now, I take part in a TON of activities, and my teachers say that I have great interviewing skills. The only problem is my ACT/SAT scores. I do great on most of the parts of the SAT (which is my stronger test rather than the ACT). The only problem is the Reading Comp portion. I perform AWFULLY on that part. Everything else is above average; but I need some advice on how to do better. I’m a slow reader, and if I rush just a “tad” to finish the passage on time, BOOM, only 2/10 correct on the passage. NEED HELP. Thanks

The reading comp section is the harder section of the SAT amongst people in my school. I recommend using Khan Academy’s SAT practices for english because they have untimed and timed practices that they made in collaboration with College Board that would help you on that section. Using resources like that (sat prep books, prep books specifically for reading, etc.) could help you get used to the problems and once you practice them, the time should be easier to managed because you will have an idea how much time to spend on each problem and learn how to read faster while understanding the passage. Practice really helps! When I first started studying for the SAT, I had problems with timing my math section in my practice tests. I practiced, mainly with Khan Academy, and I had no more time issues. I even had extra time during the real SAT to check my answers.
