<p>It's great to hear all the good reports about Stony Brook! My son just applied there today.</p>
<p>Re: standardized test scores---does Stony Brook prefer receiving SATs? Son got a 34 on the ACT & sent that (along w/transcripts & GC rec). Just wanted to make sure they didn't prefer the SAT as well (he took that & got a 2110, but figured since ACT was higher, he'd just send that).</p>

<p>SAT or ACT, either is fine with us. We'll look at whatever's higher anyway. Doesn't hurt to send both, for what it's worth. If the high school sends it on the transcript, then that's fine. Good luck to your son! Has he been to campus recently?</p>

<p>Thanks, Chris! No, he's applying based only on the very strong comp sci department, assessed through recommendations from other people re: it's substance and the US News ranking of the grad comp sci program.</p>
