SBU Admissions

Stony Brook Majors
Hey Im interested in attending stony brook. I wanted to know how some of the majors are like especially

Biology
Math Im interested in math or applied math but Im am horrible with proofs so do you learn a lot of proofs for the major.
Applied Math and Statistics-
Religious Studies- I want to if I can, minor in it
Health Science

Anyone actually taking these majors or minors,
Please explain to how life is with these majors, how tough classes, who are the best and worst professors.

Also if I apply and send in my application in September will I have an advantage. Also if I take the SAT or ACT in senior and I already sent in my app in suppose september will they only look at the app after they get all the scores and transcripts or do they start reading the apps in sept.

THANK YOU!

Difficulty (from what I hear)

BIO (Moderate to Hard)
MAT (Moderate to Hard) – You do need to learn proofs as a MAT major.
AMS (Moderate) – You might need to learn proofs as an AMS major.
RLS (Easy) – You can minor in RLS, it’s 12 credits (I think).
Health Sciences (Hard to Very Hard)

Admissions doesn’t even look at applications until after the deadline, so it won’t give you an advantage. They everything into account up until the deadline. You can take the SATs in November and they’ll look at only the highest scores.

Thanks keleso! what major did you take?

I’m actually an Anthropology major, so everything that I know is second hand. Take it with a grain of salt.
