SC GSSM Class of 2020 - chance me

I’m not sure if this is the correct forum for a public boarding school but here goes. I’m applying to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics and I feel as if I have a pretty low chance of getting in. My PSAT is above the 75th percentile (if the 1200-1340 range is for admitted students rather than applicants), my ACT is even better, and my GPA is around the average. However, my class rank stands the risk of absolutely destroying me. I heard the acceptance rate is around 40% with the expanded student body (a bit higher counting alternates), but most applicants are qualified. I don’t plan on going to an Ivy+ school (couldn’t get in regardless of if I stayed or not), but I just want to get away from my current school environment and people.

Stats:

10/11 PSAT: 1390/209
-Reading: 700 (36 R, 34 W)
-Mathematics: 690
-I was feeling pretty terrible that day, the one practice test I took before was a 1430

10/28 ACT: 33
-English: 34
-Mathematics: 34
-Reading: 33
-Science: 30

GPA:
-Unweighted: 4.00
lowest grades: 92 in Algebra 2 Honors freshman year and a 91 in Chemistry Honors first semester
-SC Weighted: 4.81

Class Rank: #18 out of 109 (idk how that even makes sense with my WGPA and ACT)… if there’s an auto-rejection threshold, it’ll destroy me. If not, it still will get me rejected anyway.

Course Rigor: max my school offers, pretty much

Awards: none except for Junior Scholar and Duke TIP Grand

Extracurriculars: volunteering and MOOCs (I don’t think there’s much of an emphasis since there’s only 3 slots)

Essays: not the best ever written but above average

Recommendations (most likely): good (math, english), average (science)

Congressional District: SC-03

Number of People Applying from School: 3 (including me)… think the other two are just outside the top 10

I’m not expecting any miracles but I really want to go to GSSM for the extra challenge and people who actually care.
