Schedule Dilemma! Please help!!!

Hi,
Schedules for senior year are due this week, and I'm really indecisive and I'm freaking out. I'm trying to maintain an "upward trend" but it's kind of difficult. Here are my past and current schedules:

Freshman:
Algebra 1 (C+)
Religion 1 (B+)
Latin 1 (B)
Biology (A)
Global 1 (A)
English 1 (B+)
Intro to Computers/ Intro to Fine Arts (A)
PE

Sophomore:

AP World History (B+, 4 on exam)
Geometry (A)
French 1 Honors (A)
English 2 Honors (A)
Religion 2 (A)
Chemistry (A)
PE

Junior, first semester grades (notice I went from six to seven main classes this year)

AP US History (A)
AP Art History (A)
French 2 Honors (A)
English 3 Honors (A)
Physics Honors (A)
Algebra 2/Trig (A)
Religion 3 (A)
PE

NOW, About my senior schedule. Taking seven main classes is highly advised against because we have a mandatory Christian service class next year, and I'd have no free time (including no lunch). These are the classes I'm certain of taking for senior year:

AP Macroeconomics
AP Biology
French 3 Honors
Psychology Through the Eyes of Faith
Precalculus
Christian Service
PE

the problem is with English. I can either take AP Lit, which I'll probably not get an A/B+ in and hate, but maintain the upward trend. Or, I can take honors Writing Seminar (or alternatively, Honors Detective Fiction), which i might do well in and enjoy, but ruin the trend.

PLEASE help. Any insight or suggestions with what to do to the other classes would be greatly appreciated

PS I'm looking at schools like Trinity, NYU, Vassar, McGill, Boston College, Fordham.

Thank you!!

I think you should just take the Honors Writing Seminar. It’s not very often you take a class in HS that you really life. Plus it sounds like fun!

thanks for helping! I guess that is something to take into consideration, but I’m just worried that colleges won’t find that I’ve taken the most rigorous courses available. Anyone else have a suggestion?

One class won’t determine the rigor of your entire schedule.

I too was having almost the exact same problem with English for next year–stuck between AP Lang which I really don’t want to take and will probably end up with a B+/A- in, or honors english 12, which at our school is a seminar class that I find very intriguing and I could end up with a very high grade in.

My GC flat out asked me if this: Are you going to take a class because you feel like you have to, or are you going to take a class that you are actually interested in?

I’m going to be taking honors English and guess what…my gc said that my course load would still be “most rigorous available”, even without AP Lang.

One more thing to consider for senior year: you don’t have the luxury of a quarter or two adjustment period to a class, since colleges will be seeing your quarter and/or semester grades in your senior year. So actually taking a class that is really hard and ending up with a lower grade in it for two quarters will not really help you at all. Having really high grades in a somewhat easier class though could potentially help you because it shows that you still care about your studies.
