Hi, I’m currently a high school senior trying to decide on which college I will be going to next year! My intended major is business, and as of right now, I’m deciding between GA Tech and Fordham.
It might seem like Georgia Tech has a much better business school ranking wise, but I’m also wondering whether it will be much easier to get a job going to Fordham since it is in New York. I’m also taking the difficulty levels of courses between those two schools (planning on maybe minor in CS also in GT ?) into consideration. It’s probably a LOT harder to get a good grade/GPA in GA Tech than in Fordham…
Fordham gave me some scholarship and stuff, but the cost of going there is basically the same as GT (who didn’t really give me anything :(( ) since the cost of living in NY is a lot higher. So cost is not one of the most important things that I’m looking at rn!
It would be really helpful if anyone would be willing to share any thoughts/experiences/suggestions! Thanks so much
Fordham is a Roman Catholic Jesuit school with two campuses, one in the Bronx and one in Manhattan.
Its not particularly a technical school, but more of a liberal arts college, with good business school and depending on what you want to study, may determine your campus location: https://www.fordham.edu/info/24491/undergraduate_business_majors_concentrations_and_minors
Georgia Tech is a highly ranked public technical research university. The vast majority of students are in math, science, architecture, and engineering. You will learn more about high tech business at Georgia Tech.
The business college has several concentrations that may not be available at Fordham like supply chain management:
It seems you could study accounting at either college.
Both cities have very strong job markets.
Do you want to land in Georgia or do you prefer a job in NYC? I think either school could land you in NYC,
but if you want to work in Atlanta, Georgia Tech, will give you a huge edge.
These are two very different schools. A Large/mid size public research university vs. a mid size private university.
With business, GT is much better in Management Information Systems, Production / Operation Management, Quantitative Analysis and Supply Chain Management / Logistics. While Fordham will be better in Finance, Marketing, International Business, etc.
I am a current Scheller student, and you will definitely be able to find a great internship here! We have a great career services center and there are so many opportunities to get a job. I plan on moving to NYC after graduation, and I am not at all worried about finding a job! Plus, GT is a great university all-around. You will definitely be able to advertise yourself as a tech-savvy business major with tons of experience. Good luck!
