So, today in the mail I get a letter(small, normal sized envelope) which was from a school I applied to and it said, (basically) “Congrats, you’ve been awarded the Dean’s Scholarship totaling…” The problem is I haven’t gotten an acceptance letter yet. Isn’t that odd? I have a call in to the admissions office but haven’t gotten a return call yet. Lost in the mail? What?
What worries me is that someone is taking the stuff out of our mailbox. We’ve had this problem before(kids around the neighborhood playing games… taking our mail putting in in someone elses and just switching everything around) but never really resolved anything.

That can happen...I wouldn't worry. My son got invites to Honors programs and scholarships from a couple of schools before he was officially admitted. I think the offices that provide those things can work independently from the admission's office to a certain extent.

i think many schools send you information about scholarships and honors programs etc. before the actual admit release date to try to attract the top portion of its applicant/admit pool to the school. basically, youre one of the school's strongest admits, and they want to be sure to let you know that they really want you at that school, and thus, try to get your attention first.

its not awkward for this to happen... for example, the UC's always send invites or offers for Regents Scholarships before the actual admissions announcement date.

I got the financial aid packet postmarked after the decision date but no acceptance/rejection letter yet here either. It's building up anticipation and it's killing me, heh.
