I'm going to be a junior following this summer, and I'd like to get a head start on applying for scholarships. I've done web searches and read the Ultimate Scholarship Book, but the result was just a mess of information that I can't make heads or tails of. A big problem that I am running into is that one source will say that juniors can apply for a certain scholarship, when others say that its seniors-only.... help!

Here are my stats:

Caucasian Female
Junior
PSAT: M 63 V 66 W 66
GPA: 3.95 unweighted
Illinois Resident

EC/Preferences:

Nothing sports related as I'm certainly not a star athlete :)

Have been playing piano since 4, and am currently employed as a piano teacher to 15 students ages 5-15; I've had this private business since the age of 13
I feel that I would be a definite contender for piano competition scholarships, regardless or prestige or competitiveness. I also dabble in composing, so that's an option

I've done some fun coffee-shop poetry slams; dark, morbid poetry is kinda my secret talent, so I could do well in related scholarships. And then anything persuasive/analytical-essay based; I pride myself in my writing skills

Fluent in 2 languages, and have been studying my 3rd for 3 years now (Russian, French)

I'm active in Student government/ Model UN (won an award last year in the latter)

Editor of school newspaper, last and this upcoming year. I'd also be interested in minoring/double majoring in journalism

I have volunteered around 100 hours at a hospital, and I hope to go into a career of medicine, and have special interests in cardiovascular science and genetics.

So, to summarize: Piano, Poetry, Language, Student Gov, Journalism and Medical related scholarships.

Fellow Illinoisans, are there any good local scholarships?

Thank you so much!
