Scholarship process

iLoveNewYork15: Lucky you! My D’s was even smaller than yours. So congratulations!

We got lucky based on above posts. D rec’d letter yesterday - $27K. However, even with this scholarship, school will still not be affordable. Maybe with financial aid??
Good luck to everyone in the upcoming two months!

Wow!! Congratulations susancani!

Fordham advertises a full tuition scholarship for NMF. Is this fairly automatic or do scholarships for NMFs vary? This has a huge impact on my decision.

It’s actually for NMSFs. I got mine with my acceptance in December (before I “officially” became a NMF, since it is the “Semifinalist Scholarship”). Fordham gives out over 300 a year, according to some sources, though not nearly that many enroll. It isn’t automatic, it is competitive, but not very competitive. For example, at the time of my application, I had a 3.63 GPA and a 2160 SAT (both of which have since increased). While my SAT was above Fordham’s norm, my GPA was below it. I believe there were a few NMSFs on this website that said they didn’t get it, though.

We were at the admitted student event yesterday and ate lunch next to a girl who is a NM finalist. She told us she got a merit scholarship, and then a while later an email saying there had been a mistake in her FA award (at first her heart sank; she thought they were withdrawing it!)—it was notification of a full-ride scholarship.

Her mother is delighted of course but she is still waiting to hear from some other schools.

How was it? I’m going to one this Friday. Which campus did you go to?
