<p>I've recently applied to a bunch of schools and I've been wondering about some of the material they've sent me. I received requests to apply for merit-based scholarships at some schools, and it's been about a month since I sent in my applications. People have been telling me that getting these requests is a sign that I'm likely to be admitted. What do you guys think? Are these requests standard for all applicants, or do they imply having successfully jumped a hurdle?</p>
