Scholarship resources

Are there good scholarship resources independent of schools out there? I’ve had sites that have a lot of $500 dollars or $1000 dollar scholarships that are just by chance. I’m looking for a site that would offer more substantial scholarships that maybe I write an essay or do a project for. I don’t have tippy top stats so more like scholarships for women in stem, students who deal with chronic illness, and students who do a lot of volunteer work would be scholarships I would apply for.

Have you tried googling scholarship+ each of "women in stem, students who deal with chronic illness, and students who do a lot of volunteer work "?

I’d try that first.

Also try scholarship+ your county or city name, maybe state, maybe check local high school web sites. IMO local scholarships are often the easiest to get.

Is this for school starting next fall or in 2017?

For Fall of 2017

Most scholarship $$ comes from the colleges. Your other options are to apply to local scholarships in your area.
Applying to the dozens of other scholarships found on the web is just a waste of time.

There are scholarships for meteorology, engineering and related stem subjects through Society of Women Engineers. There are federal programs through the department of defense. These may involve more than just writing an essay. Ask your guidance counselor and do some googling.

This is an excellent resource for scholarship searches: http://www.careeronestop.org/toolkit/training/find-scholarships.aspx. It is also wise to look for local and state scholarships. Google is your friend!
