<p>Just a quick question about scholarships. I'm hopefully going to Princeton next year if all of the finances work out, but if I recieve any outside scholarships, will they simply reduce my financial aid amount, or do scholarships reduce the amount your family has to pay?</p>
<p>They reduce the grants included within the financial aid which is pretty low in my opinion. Your EFC will be constant unless you manage to cover all the costs with scholarships in which case, you wont need financial aid.</p>
<p>So yeah, if you get scholarships, the amount your family has to pay stays the same. It sucks, i know.</p>
<p>It's likely that they will reduce the amount of need based aid the college will give you.</p>
