I'm looking for scholarship applications where the decision is made heavily based on an essay the applicant writes. I'd love to learn more about less competitive scholarships (I've seen some where you have to write about a really quirky topic, which I'm guessing don't get as many applicants). When I say less competitive, I mean I know I have no chance of winning stuff like Scholastic and the Ayn Ran competitions. I consider myself a versatile writer. I'm an Asian female from NY with high stats, and I'm going to major in econ.

Maybe look at listings in TeenInk?

Try the three sentences scholarship or the Get Up and Go scholarship. Both require writing. I’m also applying to the zoomita.com scholarship, which, according to the sponsor (which I emailed yesterday), will require a mystery question. Yes I’m intrigued.
